Keep Christmas Green this Year

Christmas is a time of rampant consumerism and in the frenzy of Christmas dinners, parties and shopping it can be easy to lose sight of what really matters.

Don't get us wrong, we love Christmas as much as the next person - but there are a few things you can do to protect the planet and reduce your carbon footprint this festive season.

Our eco gifts are made out of reclaimed and recycled materials, which means that there's less energy being expended on their production. And if we say so ourselves, they're pretty nifty too!

Choose from gorgeous homewares, pretty jewellery or snazzy stationary for your loved ones this Yule - they'll love the thought you've put into their gift, and you can feel good about it too, because you're living a low carbon lifestyle.

That's not the only way to practise sustainable living at Christmas though - why not choose from our recycled and Fairtrade baubles for your tree this year?

They're beautiful as well as good for the environment, and they'll last much longer than their shoddy, plastic, high street equivalents.

Think about using a fake tree if you already have one - you could use a pine scented candle to set the mood - or go for something a little more avant-garde and make your own from driftwood, sticks or even books.

Gift your loved ones cosy sweaters and warm blankets - you could help them to reduce their heating bills as well as giving the planet a helping hand.

Try not to buy more than you need when it comes to food - it's tempting to splash out on everything you set eyes on, but if it goes off before it's eaten then it's no good to anyone. You can always top up your shop on Boxing Day if your family eat you out of house and home! Of course, it's perfectly acceptable to stock up on long-life goodies like biscuits and chocolates.

It's easy to have a Christmas that's fun and filled with gorgeous gifts without consuming too many of our planet's natural resources - give it a go this year!
