The Autumn garden must do list

When it comes to looking after your garden, you may think that the bulk part of any work is going to be done during the summer months. Whilst this is true for planting and pruning, there are also lots of things that you can do during the Autumn months to make sure that your garden looks its best too.

Clean up the leaves

Autumn means that more and more leaves are going to find their way you’re your garden. The simplest thing to do is to sweep them into the corner of the garden, but here they will turn to mush or will keep getting blown across the garden. Instead, why not take a look at our Biodegradable Leaf Sacks. These can be used to gather up all the leaves, and then you can stack these in the corner of the garden, as the bag, and the leaves inside break down you will be able to dig the nutrient rich leftovers into your garden.

Gather up some water

One thing is for sure, when it comes to the Autumn months, here in the UK we are likely to see plenty of rain. This means that it is a good opportunity to try out water harvesting. There are a variety of different waterbutts and cans that you can use to collect water in your garden, and not only can this water be reused in your garden, but it can also come in handy for the local wildlife and your compost heap too.

Clean up your greenhouse or shed

Are you lucky enough to have a greenhouse or shed in your garden? If you are, then why not use the Autumn months to tidy it up and give it a clean. We have a Greenhouse Caddy Organiser that is ideal for making sure that all those gardening essentials are neat and tidy, and also make some space to make sure that your plants that need to be moved inside for shelter during the winter will have room.

Plant your Spring bulbs and plants

It may seem that Spring is quite far away, but this doesn’t mean that you can’t start thinking about it. There are a number of bulbs and plants that are best popped into the soil while it is still relatively soft and warm. You can also plant any climbers or shrubs ready for the Spring too!

The Autumn might be all about Halloween and colour changing trees, but it can also be about prepping your garden and making sure that it not only looks great, but it is also ready for whatever Winter can throw at it.
