A very Eco-Christmas thanks to Protect the Planet

Oh Christmas! As the song says it has to be the most wonderful time of the year. Chestnuts roasting by the open fire, Jack Frost nipping at your nose; and all those other things that make us feel a little warm and fuzzy inside.
Whilst your main focus for Christmas should be spending quality time with your family and friends; it doesn’t mean that you can’t have an eco-Christmas too! Like the idea of staying as green as your Christmas tree? If you do, then take a look at the Protect the Planet guide to having a very eco-Christmas.

Give an eco gift
One of our most favourite things about Christmas is being able to give gifts to our loved ones. So what if you could not only give them a great gift, but also one that is eco-friendly too? Here at Protect the Planet we have the ideal balance between the two.

We have a number of gifts on our online store which are fun, quirky and above all else, eco-friendly. Whether it is the Big Yellow Recycled Fire Hose Belt or the Good Intentions Recycled Notebooks; our ecogifts prove that giving a green gift can be giving a great gift!

Make the most of the leftovers
Christmas dinner is a big deal, but one thing that seems to happen is that there are plenty of leftovers at the end of the meal.

Many of us will nibble on the Turkey (or meat of your choice) later on in the evening, but rather than resigning yourself to a lifetime of sandwiches, which let’s face it, isn’t really that interesting, why not look at some more inventive recipes to use all the leftover bits and bobs.  You could even make a fun family game of it and ask each family member to come up with their own perfect leftover recipe. The winner gets to make it!

Think outside the box, when it comes to wrapping
One of the biggest wastes when it comes to Christmas is wrapping paper. Of course it is necessary to give the element of surprise to your gifts, but you can take a different approach to wrapping your presents. Why not use fabric, newspaper or recycled paper for your wrapping? Not only this but you could also encourage your children (and adults too) to try and unwrap relatively carefully, with a view that you can re-use the paper the next year.

Buy some recycled glass baubles
Here at Protect the Planet we have a variety of gorgeous recycled baubles that you can use to decorate your tree. Not only are these recycled glass baubles absolutely stunning but they are made from recycled and reclaimed materials. We have a full range of different shapes, sizes, colours and styles perfect for the modern home, the eco home or the vintage home!
